Fees
As a clinic we do not bulk bill as standard practice. Our standard fees (during school hours) range from $155 to $180, depending on the psychologist seen. We offer discount for appointments during school hours, so appointments from 3:30 pm on or Saturdays incur an additional charge of $15. These fees are significantly lower than that recommended by our professional body, the Australian Psychological Society (APS), which is currently $254 per session. However, we aim to ensure that finances do not prevent somebody from being able to attend and access the help needed. If you have any concerns about finances, please discuss this with your treating psychologist or the Clinic Director.
Payment on the day is required. We accept cash, EFTPOS or credit cards.`
Rebates
You may be eligible for a Medicare Rebate for sessions if your GP has referred you on a Mental Health Care Plan. If you are referred by a Psychiatrist or Paediatrician you will also receive a Medicare Rebate. The out of pocket expense for a standard consultation will range from $45-$60, depending on the psychologist seen.
If your GP feels you are eligible for a Mental Health Plan it means you can receive a Medicare Rebate for up 10 psychology sessions per calendar year. Your initial referral enables you to come for 6 appointments. Your psychologist will then suggest you see the GP for a review and referral for a further 4 sessions if further appointments are needed. A brief progress report must be provided to your referring GP (by your psychologist) for you to be able to obtain a referral for further sessions.
Depending on your private health scheme, you may be eligible for a rebate under Private Health Insurance (not to be used in addition to Medicare). If you are using Private Health Insurance the rebate amount will depend on your particular fund.
Our cancellation policy
It is clinic policy that a minimum of 24 hours notice (business hours) is provided when cancelling or rescheduling an appointment. This is so other people may benefit your appointment. We usually have a waiting list of clients seeking appointments and without adequate notice it is very difficult to successfully get in touch with people to offer your appointment time. Failure to provide a minimum of 24 hours notice (business hours) or non-attendance will incur a fee. Cancellation fees can range from $70 (plus GST) to the full session fee, depending on the circumstances and amount of notice given. Cancellation or non-attendance fees are not eligible for a Medicare rebate.
For appointments on a Monday, we ask that you notify us by 3pm on the prior Friday so we have ample time to contact other clients, as the clinic is closed on Sundays. Leaving a message on the answering machine on the Sunday for a Monday appointment will still result in a cancellation fee being charged. For evening appointments (4pm onwards), to avoid a cancellation fee, you must notify us by midday on the prior business day so we have enough time to successfully contact other clients waiting on appointments. Evening appointments are in extremely high demand.
You will receive an SMS reminder the day prior to your appointment. However, this is only a courtesy and should not be relied upon to remember your appointment. If you do not receive an SMS this will not be a valid reason for missing an appointment or providing inadequate notice when cancelling, and will still result in a fee being charged.
